Kemp E. Pond

Kemp E. Pond, 30, of Plainfield, died tragically on May 22, 2012, in a motorcycle accident. He was the loving son of Dana and Melcy Pond, cherished older brother to Carson Pond (Ashley Smith) and Lydia Pond, adoring grandson to Trula Pond Bowman, and dear nephew, cousin, godfather and friend to many, especially his best friend, Daniel Mikos and special friend, Alicia Falcone. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Otto and Marybeth Curth, Edward Pond, and Donald Bowman.
Kemp was born February 6, 1982 and lived in Romeoville until 1992, when his family moved to Plainfield. He was active in Boy Scouts, graduated from Plainfield High School in 2000 and attended Joliet Junior College. Kemp was an active member of the Ford Festiva Club, and a lifelong member of the Wilmington Recreation Club. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, playing disc golf, competitive pistol shooting, and camping. Kemp was a gifted man who loved anything mechanical. He could often be found fixing up his motorcycles, computers, cars, trucks or helping others. A giant, gentle spirit, Kemp was loved by all who knew him and will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held at Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 15219 S. Joliet Road, Plainfield on Tuesday, May 29 between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. with a memorial service at 7 p.m. Interment will be private.
